During the holidays, be mindful of potential dangers for pets such as toxic foods—including chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, and other festive treats—that can pose serious health risks. If your dog is poisoned, call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 888-426-4435 or Pet Poison Helpline at 855-764-7661 immediately, and take your dog to the nearest emergency vet. Be prepared to provide information about your dog and the substance they ingested, such as the type, amount, and time of exposure.

Healdsburg Veterinary Hospital

Thank you for supporting Healdsburg Veterinary Hospital. Our story is a great one, and it’s all centered around providing the best care for your pets.

About Healdsburg Veterinary Hospital

Our hospital was founded by Dr. Charles Campbell in 1948. At that time, a great amount of animal agriculture and pets could be found throughout Healdsburg. In 1969, Dr. David McCrystle joined the team, purchased the business in 1974, and is still practicing today. The town of Healdsburg has changed a lot throughout the years but Dr. McCrystle’s “no-nonsense” approach to medicine has remained the same and has kept clients coming back year after year.

In the late 1980s, the hospital was remodeled to allow better care and service for the ever-increasing number of dogs and cats in the community. Two examination rooms, a surgery room, and office space were added to the front of the original three room building. In 2005, the hospital was remodeled a second time to provide more exam rooms and a space was created for more complex dental procedures, digital X-rays, and ultrasounds.

Dr. Margaret Basurto joined the practice full-time in 2013 and she has been an indispensable addition to our staff. Her vast knowledge and exceptional skills have added depth and quality of care to our hospital. She continues to expand her knowledge of veterinary medicine through attending continuing education and collaborating with local specialists to better serve her clients. She is grateful to have the opportunity to help our patients live their best lives and develop meaningful relationships with families and their pets.

The veterinarians who have worked for Healdsburg Veterinary Hospital have always been actively involved with the community and have a history of being active with other veterinarians in state and national veterinary organizations.
